Defensive Control Of States And Person Schemas

I have studied psychoanalytic treatments intensively in single case studies, and have developed a method—configurational analysis—that formulates cases according to (1) phenomena, (2) states of mind, (3) person schemas, and (4) analysis of conflict in terms of defensive control of emotion by shifts in topics, states, and schemas. At each of these levels I have developed research tools that lead to reliable and quantitative empirical findings. Here, while summarizing the corpus of my work, I emphasized role-relationship model (RRM) configurations that contain clinically valid qualitative inferences about interactions of wish, fear, and defense.
